Viola Menchini is an Italian womenswear fashion designer based in London. Viola graduated from Istituto Marangoni and her signature style focuses on bold colours, innovative prints and embellishments.
Her designs are characterised by exaggerated feminine silhouettes with playful details, creating avant-garde yet haute couture looks. Her collection is inspired by relevant topics, related to emotions, feelings and people mental states.
Loneliness and today's idea of love and relationships are the concepts behind her SS19 graduate collection “L’amor perduto” (the lost love).
The silhouettes are influenced by the 1950s, with contemporary arrow-shaped oversized patch pockets and collars inspired from Tinder’s "swipe right" gesture. Big scale flower prints and padded petal shaped details represent the solitary rose, a symbol of love and passion, in contrast with the shiny, semi-transparent and stiff fabrics which give a message of illusion, fragility and isolation.
