Alexandra Afanasyeva: “Conceptually the collection evokes the spirit of exploration which is closely linked to such notions as identity and rite of passage.”
LONDON COLLEGE OF FASHION STAGES BA 2017 GRADUATE SHOW
On June 5th, London College of Fashion BA 2017 graduates took over the central space at Old Spitalfields Market in East London with a catwalk show in the round that drew from every area of life: from perceptions of sexuality and the body to the imaginings of a future world where we adapt to survive.
"I know that fashion shapes lives and has the power to change the way we perceive the world," Head of LCF Professor Frances Corner told partner group NJAL.
"In an era of radical change, both socially and politically, fashion has never been so relevant. We are dedicated to providing world class borderless education, ensuring that the UK remains at the forefront of the creative industries as well as investing and nurturing creative talent to ensure we safeguard the fashion industry, a vital component of the world economy, for future generations."
Encompassing the nostalgic vision of a pre-computerised society of Shakila Thebe and the latent violence of Alexandra Afanasyeva’s jewellery as well as Nensi Dojaka’s poignant mix of femininity and surrealism, please find below a selection of the best. Credit: photography James Rees.
