Alice Riley is a fashion knitwear and knitted textile designer, graduating in June 2020 from Nottingham Trent University. Alice is a confident, evolving designer who comes from a textiles background. Since discovering her love for texture, her passion and flare for creative fabrics is continuously advancing. She started her journey by creating tactile surfaces through multimedia and loving fabric construction, pursued a degree in Fashion Knitwear and Knitted Textiles. After a year of designing knitwear for two commercial brands in New York, Alice has developed skills in designing creative pieces in an industrial environment, both for high street and ready to wear.

Alice has been inspired by geometric patterns, through variation of knit stitches, contrasting weights and transparencies to screen printing and other mix media surfaces. Additionally she utilises unconventional industrial materials to define the conflict between material qualities found within the urban environment. The juxtaposition of materials illuminates the range of 3d and 2d aspects to her designs as she combines structural silhouette. Alice aims for her final collection is to demonstrate knitwear in a structural and fluid aesthetic, playing on both structure through drape to create strong impactful silhouettes. Through her highlighting of the many layers of shapes, marks and weights discovered within architectural infrastructures, Alice emphasises the overall condensed chaos the urban environment holds.
