Anna Tönköl was born and raised in Budapest, Hungary, a city that combines the Eclectic and Bauhaus aesthetic. This duality left a definite mark on her sensibility toward design. She is finishing her master studies at Institut Francais de la Mode in Paris, where she followed the Leather Goods Design course in Fashion Design. Beforehand, she was working in Amsterdam with a vegan leather bag design studio called Iris Maree and completing her BA in textile design at Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design Budapest. Meanwhile, Anna spent a semester in Rotterdam, studying fashion design at Willem de Kooning Academy.
Her collections are often referencing pop culture and postmodern art while using the streets as the main inspiration source when searching for new shapes and forms. Thereby, her curiosity leads her to travel even if it is only to the nearest park in Paris while Covid-19 restrictions are held on. Anna's graduation collection recreates a nostalgia of her past that never happened. She is building a leather goods collection with hidden construction elements as a metaphor for the interaction between reality and her perceptions.
