All you need is? Spring 2020 collection by designer Ashleigh Hillman is inspired by the 1980’s rock and roll scene, it is attitude, studded jackets, unedited rebellion and energy. It mixes these influences with with something altogether softer: handprinted, watercolour prints and textiles in a palette of pinks and purples, soft chocolates and creams with explosions of blacks.

Textiles including studs, ruffles and fabric manipulation. Silhouettes are oversized coats, tailored bottoms , layered silk dresses and ruffled blouses taken from post modernism British subcultures.The garments are multi layered, sustainable, intricately detailed, combining both feminine and masculine elements.The demographic are solvent, independent ,opinionated and passionate about current affairs, politics and sustainability and strives for change. Ashleigh’s close family members all identified with common subcultures from 1970-1980 and this has fuelled her desire for contemporary and diverse design.

The title, taken from an article written in Classic Rock Magazine on the Sex Pistols 'All You Need Is Hate!' plays with the idea on how we have chosen what to love through the creation of identity and the decisions we make on how we dress. Now more than ever, the collection celebrates the beauty in individuality through this project and diversity and culture throughout the 1980’s.
