Birkenstock presents: The Deer Park Installation

The classic German footwear brand, Birkenstock collaborated with two remarkably talented Chinese designers, Jiang Sheng and Ms MIN for their SS18 collections during Shanghai Fashion Week. Our Managing Director, Since Wang was personally invited by the CEO of Attila & Co, Andrea Longhi to The Deer Park Installation, who had organised the event.

Since Wang wore Fashion Crossover’s designer pieces, which included Meng Zhang’s jewellery pieces and Wangliling’s jacket. The Fashion Crossover platform represents a wide range of emerging designers from all over the world and this event was a perfect place to help further enhance their promotion in the industry.

Since spoke to Andrea about how the Fashion Crossover is always trying to discover and promote the best, emerging designers who have something new and exciting to offer as we believe and understand that they are the future of fashion. She also showed her the two designers she had chosen to wear.

Many individuals were amazed by Meng Zhang’s maximal yet wearable collection. Inspired by the lexicon of curves and lines within Chinese calligraphy an essence is captured and translated into vibrant jewellery. The Wangliling jacket was also a big hit as the design is very special due to its high-end tech, reflective light qualities.

The six day long exhibition took place in an open landscape garden style setting and featured a range of Buddha works. Architect, Tang Jiang-song simplified geometric shape to create the concept of a modern garden. Sculptures in stone, glass and marble decorate the contemporary setting, creating a tranquil feel.

Using the religious culture of Buddhism and mixing it with contemporary style created a fascinating aesthetic. Combining this traditional concept with the modern world showed how fashion incorporates and enhances social history, translating it into fine tuned, subtle details.

A range of international guests including the Vice Secretary General of Shanghai Fashion Week, Xiaolei Lv came to see the exhibition. The representation of high status fashion characters showed that this exhibition was something extraordinary and we felt honoured to have been a part of it.
