There was a gasp in the audience when Caroline Perino’s first model appeared on the runway. Though being simple one-piece garments, Perino’s unconventional and expressive use of colours and abstract patterns made them anything but boring. Recent Kingston University graduate’s collection was inspired by late artist Alexander Calder and his attraction to primary colours and simple shapes.

“I wanted clean and minimal shapes, but bold bright colors with a touch of elegance and sophistication.”

Originally from Brazil, Perino is looking forward to staying in European fashion hubs.

“I really want to gain experience working for some of the brands I admire in France. But at the same time, I also want to keep doing my own thing in a smaller scale. In five years I’ll definitely have my own brand.”
