Catriona Smith is a Scotland based, recent Fashion Technology graduate. The aim of her Honours Project was to bring to light the need for more inclsuive fashion. In particular disability inclusive fashion. HEAVENLY BODIES is a collection of eveningwear for women WITHOUT and WITH disabilities. Four outfits were designed for this collection: 1. Wheelchair User, 2. Scoliosis, 3. Limited Dexterity and 4. Amputee. Due to the current virus outbreak only Outfit 1 was constructed. The outfit photographed is suitable for women who do and do not require the use of a wheelchair. The jacket features cape sleeves that allow a wide range of moment that the wearer can undergo without feeling any discomfort.

For example, the movement of manually pushing the wheels of a wheelchair without the restrictions of a regular tailored sleeve or front panels. The trousers fit snuggly around the waist, bottom and thighs but still with room to allow for the changed shape that occurs when sitting and flares out at the knee. The high waisted front panels sit comfortably above the belly button. The curved hem that connects the front panel to the extreme high back panel curves up and over the hip, further accentuating the hourglass silhouette. The back panel is elasticated to keep the tension and stop the waistband front falling when standing. The front panels and lower leg side panels are fastened with metal poppers for ease of dressing and undressing. The core focus of this outfit’s design is to be fully functional yet still aesthetic and flattering for the female body.
