Claire Tiplady is a British fashion designer who set up her eponymous label after graduating with a BA Honours in Fashion Design from Birmingham City University. Inspiration for her graduate collection 'Constructing the Commute' came while spending time travelling through London for her internship with the London-based contemporary designer, Zoë Jordan. Her graduate collection, ‘Constructing the Commute’, was showcased at her University’s Internal Fashion Show at the prestigious Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. She was then selected to exhibit her work on the university’s stand at Graduate Fashion Week, London. Her collection has also been featured in various press and magazine articles including L’Officiel, Harper's Bazaar and many more.
Claire Tiplady offers a quirky line of gender-neutral and highly stylised pieces that nod to the swinging sixties with oversized lapels and bold colours as well as the London underground, reflected in the intricate weaving out of ribbon. Her collection combines her passions for print, embroidery and textile techniques with an oversized emphasis on small details of garments to create a timeless collection. Accents of 70’s inspired chic are shown throughout her collection and strong silhouettes and bold patterns are paired with a sense of femininity, which in total has the unique styling capability to be combined and paired for any genre.
