The Cape Floral Kingdom, or Fynbos as it is known locally, has an overabundance of unique and beautiful flowers. However, many are best appreciated in colour and this posed a challenge for him as he limited himself to depicting them only in silver, against a background of indigenous woods.

Deon carefully selected plants and flowers that had such a distinctive shape and form that they would be instantly recognisable even when rendered in a single colour/material such as silver. He worked from images taken on walks on Table Mountain. His simple pencil sketch was used by an expert wax carver to produce a sculptural and botanically accurate wax model of the flowerhead. This was then cast in recycled silver. Pins at the back of the cast piece allows for the silver flowerhead to be attached to a wooden disc via carefully matched drill holes, thus precluding the use of any glues. The silver flower is carefully placed to complement any visible graining in the wooden disc to create a harmonious flow. The backplate is embellished with a hand-cut design of the brand's logo. This together with a narrow silver frame, secures all the components, while obscuring the structural pins. The clasp, in the case of the brooch option, or the rings for the handcrafted chain, in the case of the pendant option, are then added.
