Emily Oda’s collection was influenced by the idea of women dressing up and getting ready. Beginning her design process with focusing on the action of when women were; putting makeup on, wearing perfume and choosing their outfits, Emily came up with different characters and matched the scent for each identity.
Expanding from this theme she watched ‘Ziegfeld Follis’ (1946) and took inspiration from the showgirls behind the scene. These aspects influenced Emily to create a sophisticated and luxurious feel in her collection.
The wide choice of techniques ranges from beading to hand-machine knitting, as well as working with bio-resin and pressed flowers to maintain equilibrium between the environment and beauty.
