Recently we had a great pleasure to interview one of the designer Rachael Broussard featured in December publication of the Harper’s Bazaar UK. Her brand R. Michel’le the label runway showcased collections gracing the stages of LAFW and NYFW promoting bold and distinct style. Currently, R. Michel'le the label is featured in 43 stores throughout the world and their own flagship store in Los Angeles California. Read how each collection evolves its signature DNA of voluminous silhouettes, innovative fabrications and nostalgic shapes that have been reinvented for the modern woman!

Would you mind telling us what is the brand message behind R. Michel’le the label?

From architectural silhouettes to artistic inspirations, I created R. Michel'le the label to encourage self-expression with a decisive and avant-garde aesthetic.

The main source of inspiration for the brand is the art world, popular culture, film and social movements, how does this take shape in your work?

R Michelle creates a modern silhouette for the trendsetter. We are inspired by the evolution of fashion trends in all realms and we bring it together to create a collection. As a designer I enjoy creating architectural shapes in the clothing which is art, from pop culture I always enjoy bringing in pieces that would flow in the street style category which would be considered ‘Pop Culture’ and social movements meaning the next best thing. I am always looking to create the next trend to come out by era, recycling the eras through time.
 
 

 
You are an influencer and a designer, how have these two things co-existed with each other?

I was a designer first. I enjoyed wearing my line to fashion week and getting my brand out there and it became this thing where I started to get known for my looks. In America its very common that designers are known for their creative style, I’ve also seen this trend in Paris and London as well. I don’t even know how the influencer title came along, I’m just a person who had good style that designs. In the way I dress myself I am creative and try to show my own way of designing my daily look as well.

Could you please describe the R. Michel'le woman?


The R. Michel’le woman is bold in her style, a trendsetter and not afraid of colour and shape. She is a sophisticated woman, classy form with an edge. This woman is artsy, fashion forward and daring. We dress the trendsetters of the world.

You have 43 stores throughout the world, what is the next goal for R. Michel'le?

Well I just achieved that by opening up a R. Michel’le the label flagship store in London and furthermore expanded to Italy, Paris and all the major London department stores worldwide!
