House of Compulsion is a UK-based womenswear brand, founded by the award winning designer, Alina Morar.
The brand began with a project to reinvent an all-time favourite clothing item: the Biker Jacket. House of Compulsion specialises in deconstructing and reinterpreting the classic biker jacket by exploring with leather, textures, shapes and colours in unexpected ways. The brand pursues the entire design and manufacturing process to be sustainable, not succumbing to the demands of ‘fast fashion’. It is also important to House of Compulsion, not to compromise their vision in its quest to produce items that are one of a kind and handmade in the UK. The designer’s mission is to stay responsive to those who have worn out their classic black leather jackets and are looking for something else.
Having studied journalism at Babes-Bolvai University, Alina Morar made her way to study BA and MA Fashion Design at the University of Arts and Design in Cluj-Napoca. Afterwards, she debuted her eponymous collection at the UAD Fashion Design Gala in 2013, and was awarded the Perwoll Prize for Best Young Designer and Avanpremiere Fest Prize.
In 2014, she intensively trained during the internship at Meadham Kirchhoff in London. Because of her lasting effort and extraordinary design ideas, she was awarded the Best Young Designer Prize at the Elle Style Awards.
