James, 21, says the vibrancy of living in Edinburgh has given him the confidence to experiment with designs.
As he looks forward to starting a Master’s degree in menswear at Westminster University, he plans to push the boundaries of tailoring.
He said: “Moving to Edinburgh was a real eye-opener for me. It’s such a liberal place and somewhere that is easy to experiment with fashion.
“I’ve made a lot of my own clothes from dresses that I’ve turned into trousers. It seems to be that men can’t be experimental but I want to make menswear more playful.”
James’s catwalk collection combines his love of tailoring and sequins.
He added: “I take inspiration from military themes and like to explore formality alongside the contrast of something shiny, printed and in your face.”
