Jennifer Copeland’s collection exemplifies the structural use of tulle and netting to create a diversity of colours and silhouettes. By combining her fascination with the cruise ship industry, Venezuelan beauty pageants and their national flower of the orchid; she created a narrative that allowed her to develop a collection filled with eccentric silhouettes, eclectic print designs and created fantasy garments filled with joy and excitement.
The orchid is highlighted throughout Jennifer’s collection, in the hand-sewn tulle and netting embellishments, to the print design and garment structure. With inspiration from couture fashion houses, all garments are based on a corseted bodice, giving support to the structured tulle and netting and comfort for the model. The pastel explosion colour scheme was developed through a range of printing techniques, such as screen and foiling, along with spray paint to add depth to the garments.
