Through the two years while doing the FIT MFA graduate program Lenny studied extensively into finding purpose; “I believe that I have changed a lot from the designer I was when applying for the MFA. When applying I envisioned myself as being a traditional designer. This program, the mentors and my peers have helped to realize to embrace my own madness.  




Being a graffiti artist Lennny is inspired by dismantling and recreating; taking common iconography and remixing it as his own. Something about doing what’s provocative or different is so enticing to people; the rush felt when others are observing or gawking at you while being different is compelling. This has always been a part of graffiti culture; stealing logos and iconography to incorporate into the artists artwork as their own with a remix or twist as their own. Something about being terrifying, provocative and crossing what's acceptable is so enticing to people. This is how I established the Lenny Vuitton alter ego; I loved defacing luxury products, Louis Vuittons bag being my favorite.

Something about being terrifying, provocative and crossing what's acceptable is so enticing to people. This is how I established the Lenny Vuitton alter ego; I loved defacing luxury products, Louis Vuittons bag being my favorite. Lenny Vuitton is somewhat a parody but at the same time the brand is more serious than just a parody. I am not making cheap clothes or ripping off logos from anything louis vuitton offers. I am simply using the iconography of the word “vuitton'' associated with their brand. To me the word “vuitton” is a word that means high class and luxury fashion; by putting Vuitton after Lenny I have married art and graffiti with luxury fashion. For Example, The same thing occurs in my current logo, it is a remix of the Comme Des Garcon signature heart remixed with vintage tattoos facial expressions, and floating above is a Jean Michael Basquiat crown. The heart represents fashion, the tattoos represent punk and individualism while the crown represents art; those are the three things that define Lenny Vuitton. Consumers love iconography and images they can recognize, it took life times for Louis Vuitton to build their iconic LV reputation, this is why some graffiti take the shortcut and borrow what isn't theirs, rather than developing their own logo to get their message across.
