Frank Chou believes, great design is achieved, not only through the creative stage, but by understanding the intricacies of the entire end-to-end process. “You can’t produce wonderful furniture by looking inwards - one has to have a solid grasp of global trends, manufacturing, sustainability, resource and even marketing. Only then can you truly create a successful and long-lasting collection”.

The design industry in China is on a rapid upward trajectory and he feels proud to be part of that movement. However, while China is gaining prosperity, he senses at times we still channel the spirit of a developing country. And as an independentdesign studio, his team feel a strong responsibility to lead, teach, and campaign for a better future.

The artist was born in Beijing, now the home of he company’s headquarters, however, he also spent some of his early career working in Italy. He had the opportunity to work alongside leading luxury brands in Europe, such as Fendi, Roche Bobois and Ligne Roset. The designer believes that it has granted him a very balanced view of world design. He always tries to connect the dots between the Eastern and Western aesthetic, and design for people who share that notion.

People sometimes ask him how it feels to have gained global recognition at such a young age. It’s not something he thinks about, he just feels very lucky to have found his place in the world.
