Hereafter is a project responding to the man-made environmental crisis our planet is currently suffering. The focus of this project surrounds the issue of material waste and environmentally conscious practices. It is an attempt to prove that the impact the fashion industry has on our planet can be severely reduced, if we are willing to change our practices.

To determine the aesthetic route for this project, Lollo went back to her roots to find inspiration. She chose to juxtapose her Scandinavian minimalist heritage, an aesthetic greatly complimenting the zero waste practice, with her childhood love of Science fiction. Together they helped her realise the futuristic yet restrained and practical designs of ‘Hereafter’.

This collection is produced with made-to-last construction techniques and care advice that will prolong a garments life. And, by choosing to exclusively work with organic plant based mono fibre fabrics (cotton, tencel and bamboo), Lollo can make an End-of-life plan for all of the Hereafter garments. When one of the pieces has reached the end of its use, the garment can be easily up-cycled, recycled or biodegraded, there in completing an environmentally responsible circle.

The reoccurring textile print in this collection is inspired by sci-fi series Star Trek Voyager and a homage badge design from Lollo’s pre-collection. The use of textile prints work well with the zero waste pattern design and offers more creative options when the materials you work with are limited. Printing also provides easy cutting guidelines solutions for zero waste patterns.
