Textile designer from Yorkshire, Millicent Sanders, has graduated with a first class honours from BA Textile Design at Central Saint Martins. Specialised in knitted textiles, she works mainly on industrial sampling machines to develop fabrics which can be applied to fashion, furniture and footwear. Millicent Sanders’ 'Mad George' reinvents Regency silhouettes in sculptural industrial knit. Each knit piece is shaped integrally through engineered stitch placements and yarn combinations. Colours and textures of the collection are inspired by the brilliantly bizarre food and drink trends of the British Regency period. Colours are blended on the machine. Knitted with multiple fine threads of different hues, from a far the pieces appear as block colours, when examining closely you will see an array of multicoloured threads.
