Nile’s research for her final collection at Parsons Paris explores the combination of 3D digital design and traditional tailoring methods. Throughout her research she searches for more efficient and sustainable processes and materiality. How to create a collection with less waste? How can materials be grown rather than built. she explores natural processes for materiality and aesthetic use inspired by natural forms.

Inspired by her grandfather, a painter and sailer, she explains how his discourse always revolves around nature and how we as humans should attempt lo live within the same harmonious systems. Therefore she looks to her surroundings in nature for aesthetic inspiration and process/system inspiration. She is attempting biological processes to incorporate in the material and graphics of her collection; such as growing salt crystals and growing kombucha probiotic leathers.

From sketch and draping exploration Nile begins designing in clo 3d where she creates her patterns and explores colours and fabrics and styling. She has begun exploring putting the 3d garments on friends to see the proportions realistically rather than the avatar. This process allows her to make many prototypes without wasting any fabric until the final stages.
During the ongoing process of creating her collection she is able to explore the different silhouettes and proportions to perfect and adjust the collection as she pleases. <br
