Olesya's collection gets its inspiration from peasant’s life on the turn of the 19th century, just before the Russian Revolution. It was a hard and significant time in history, when old and new worlds collided. Dramatic changes occurred in peoples minds. Specifically an idea of her concept comes from national costume. There is a short episode on the edge of eras when new tendencies are confronted with traditions. One of these conversions can be seen in Russian traditional costumes as well. Volume, embroidery and floral ornaments are the most known in Russian costume, and they define Russian style. In her collection Olesya put these together by accentuating the contrast between traditions and modernity by using sport fabrics, details and accessories.
The main element of the whole collection is the fabric’s textures. It has a neoprene structure and golden embroidery’ 3D effect. This old decorative technique was her main inspiration. She wanted to recreate this with modern technologies, as she wanted to keep a noticeable contrast between traditions and modernity. Indeed, this collection is not about changes, which usually only happen on the edge of an era, but about people’s minds. The feelings and emotions that we encounter when something significant happens. This is the line which separates your life events “before” and “after”. When you work as hard as you can, because it’s your last chance to cross that line.
