Olivia Barthe is a jewellery designer from Barcelona who completed her MA Degree in Jewellery Design at Central Saint Martins in 2020.

Barthe’s MA collection departs from the exploration of her own body movements, through experimental dance. To generate the collection, the essence of the movement is first captured into paper. Olivia is suspended, dancing in the air, as she draws on the paper below. Moving into to metalwork, Barthe seeks to maintain the sense of rhythm, energy and flow within the final piece. The collection simply expresses how to turn immaterial emotions into material objects.

Olivia explores the possibility of jewels that exist beyond the body of the woman. She has designed the pieces as emotional objects; making the collection as gender-less and untied from traditional functionality. Each piece is unique and made by Olivia exploiting specialist techniques, forging, raising and casting in recycled silver and gold plated.

These jewels hold the energy and specificity of the moment each was created.
