Omosefe Obakhavbaye is a self-titled HUMANWEAR design graduate from the Manchester Fashion Institute. Sponsored by Abakhan Fabric and shown during Graduate Fashion Week, her collection’s aim is to breakdown binaural concept systems within the context of everyday life through the exploration and materialisation of cross-cultural relationships in a dress.

In analysing restrictions of dress and tailoring, Obakhavbaye’s BA (Hons) collection takes minimalist aesthetics to communicate and dismantle the concept of ‘uniformity’. She highlights, through the use of Nigerian draping techniques, her initial aim of HUMANWEAR which is to personify the fabric as a separate body. Through movement, a relationship can be rebuilt between the wearer and a new conscious act of dressing the skin.
