A collection inspired by Bavarian motorsport rally racing, aiming to translate key features of rally vehicle interiors, exteriors, key colours, graphics and race uniforms to become luxury sport-style pieces through the use of fabrications and design.
Whilst out on Placement year I was fortunate enough to take one of my internships as a sport-style apparel designer for Puma, Herzogenaurach, Germany. During my time, I took the opportunity to explore the local history of Bavarian Motor Works and took interest in the rally car vehicles on display at the BMW Museum, Munich. I approach ed my design process by focusing on specific features of the car, such as race safety nets, performance seats as well as race performance uniform, which I was then able to translate through experimentation into non-performance sportswear design ideas.
Running high fashion reference images alongside performance sportswear and motorsport vehicles allowed for a well-balanced combination of all branches of my research to form a collection. Using my own middle name, I have created a strong brand presence by attaching chrome car badges to my leather pieces in keeping with a motorsport concept.
