Polina Oleynikova’s inspiration for the collection is Demon-based theory. I was inspired by Vrubel’s artworks dedicated to the same topic and his work in general The key word is duality. The eternal contrast that comes through our lives, decisions, opinions and actions. Looking at the dark and light in ourselves and finding this balance between them.

Having a Fine Art background Polina was developing my designs and prints partly from painting on my own and combining it with the artist’s work. The silhouettes were created by using a variety of draping and tailoring techniques with keeping in mind the energy of duality and the characters of the paintings. The shapes and details are contrasting either to each other, trying to remind the viewer about duality each time. To further illustrate a story of the search of balance and strong contrasting at the same time she is using colours that are coming from light to dark with vivid splashes of contrast, keeping the colour palette in earthy tones.

The collection is combining fitted tailoring with bigger, draped shapes; feminine silhouettes with a touch of menswear. Contraposition of techniques is developing the idea of mystery of the concept as well as challenging the idea whether fashion is art. As well as exploring the idea of introduce in luxury fashion sustainable production.
