I started the project with the question ‘How does nature inform my conceptual and visual thinking?’ I often look at nature for colour and visual inspiration. Nature to Weave is a collection of tapestries and prints inspired by the complexity of colour, texture and form in landscapes. I find beauty in natural shapes and I aim to fit an array of colours within this shape.I have explored the abstract forms and colour through watercolour washes, oil paints and digital drawings, this helped translate the journey from image to tactile tapestry.

Material study to understand texture and colour.

Mood board and mark making explorations to understand the complexity of colour and form in nature.

Inspired by the colours found in nature I have made a colour library that I can refer to and build on in the future.

Patterns developed from my colour, shape and texture research.
