Standing in front of The Law Society, 113 Chancery Lane; right across the street from the Royal Courts of Justice, we were at first slightly perplexed by the chosen location, as we entered the venue for the Roberta Einer AW18 presentation. One could not help but question: Why was a fashion event being held at a venue that had so little to do with its creative industry? We soon discovered the answer, as we witnessed the content of the presentation.

The hired models were not only there to exhibit Einer's luxury pieces, but also to prove a point. An anger management session started with Roberta encouraging models to write on ceramic plates issues in society that worried them. These plates were then thrown with anger against the wall of the building, simultaneously shattering their grievance into pieces. Many of these messages were related to political and social affairs with regards to sex, gender and class. By then we realised the motive Einer had in mind when she chose this venue; as this is a place where these issues should be examined and discussed more closely.

We have followed Roberta's journey as a designer through attending her presentations. One collaboration range which is consistently available is her statement pieces featuring Swarovski crystals. The combination of glittering crystals on different variety of garments provides an unrivalled sense of beauty and contrast which could only be found in Einer's design. Amongst all items, our favourites were the crystal embroidered Vans shoes, a true fusion across urban footwear culture and translucent mineral from nature.

It would be prudent to say Roberta is a shining example of the young talent emerging from one of London's top fashion universities. We are eager to witness the next wave of inspiring creation from this gifted designer.
