Sarah Graham is an MA Material Futures graduate interested in working with living systems to design alternatives to the current petroleum-based materials and systems in the fashion industry and beyond. With a specific interest in the unique capabilities of microorganisms, her practice looks at how design, technology and science communities can collaborate to create a more sustainable future.
The Living Factory is an exploration of a nacre inspired bacterial composite for use in the sportswear industry.
Her experienced background in fashion design and passion for creating a more equitable and innovative future led Sarah to found Ethics Matter, a design research and sustainability consultancy. Here, she works with brands to develop and implement bespoke sustainability strategies, while continuing her research into bacterial composites and innovations in biomaterials.
