The Woman Warrior is a collection about healing that empowers those who are experiencing emotional struggles behind untold stories. The designer applied a functional drawstrings system on lace, denim, jersey and ripstop to create a contrast representing the relationship between vulnerability and strength. The intricate Macramé forms an armor, as a resistance behind the gentleness of women, which symbolizes conflicts but also reserves negative space standing for the journey of finding relief.
Drawstrings change the length and fit of garments: the transformation process of a long tunic into a bubble tank.
All cording materials used in this collection were donated, hence color choices were limited. The designer used natural dyes to modify its shade. The restricted resources during the pandemic inspired the designer to hand knot these looks on bodies to reduce waste, as all cording could be disassembled to recreate new pieces.
