Yun Liang Hsu is a Taiwanese designer who graduated from the Royal College of Art and is particularly drawn to the fashion and design industry.
Yun's work reflects a blend of technical proficiency, innovative thinking, and a keen eye for detail. His creative pursuits are characterized by a commitment to pushing boundaries and exploring new possibilities in the realm of fashion. With each project, he strives to create pieces that captivate the imagination, evoke emotion, and resonate with people and contemporary aesthetics.
In this collection, Yun sought to imbue new layers of significance into things we neglect by integrating the philosophy of Ikebana and the concept of semiotics by Roland Barthes. Through the transformation of functions, Yun intended to evoke a sense of familiarity and association with the principles and aesthetics of traditional Japanese flower arrangement. Moreover, by embracing the idea of ritualistic design, this series of works provides people with a transcendent and transformative experience beyond their utilitarian nature through the action of arrangement.
Through a seamless blending of modern and traditional, natural and artificial, Yun endeavoured to challenge conventional notions of form and materiality. His intention was to invite contemplation on the interplay between art, design, and the narratives we attach to everyday objects. Through this collection, he aimed to engage viewers in a thought-provoking exploration of the connections and meanings that emerge from this fusion of cultural references and functional fashion jewellery design.
