Abigail Grewal is a fashion designer specialising in womenswear and print design. She graduated from London College of Fashion in 2015 with a surface textile degree, and then in 2019, she graduated from Istituto Marangoni in London with a womenswear degree.

She has just launched her six look capsule graduate collection on fashion-crossover. Refracted spring summer 2020 is a collection inspired by Abigail’s childhood love for creating light movement using sparklers. What began as playful experimentation evolved into a more intentional creative process as she grew up and began to use the shutter speed function on her camera to create beautiful light movement photographs. The photographs influenced the print design in this collection.

The silhouettes are influenced by the installations of an artist named Janet Echelman. Her installations are based on the force of nature. Her installations are held up by ropes, and she allows light and wind to control her installations. This idea inspired Abigail, she experimented with ways to hold up her garments using a cord. She also used cord as a function to pull in the fabric.

Her designs are intricate and unique. Her collection has fabric manipulations, embroidery, prints and colour blocking. There is something for everyone, whether you want a dramatic gown or a sporty bomber jacket. This collection is fun and youthful.
