Chloe Renshaw-Smith is a 2021 BA Textile Design graduate form Central St Martins, specialisng in woven design.

Throughout Chloe’s final year, she responded to the Covid-19 social restrictions by focusing her research on household items and local amenities. For her graduate collection she explored her interests in recycled food packaging and local infrastructures, looking at the protective functionality of these items.

Her work explores material manipulation by contorting, cutting-up and reconstructing recycled packaging. Her final work is driven by the playful and bold patterns which are highlighted in her off loom constructions. The collection consists of layered plastic proposals alongside woven pieces for women’s street-wear. The woven fabrics explore varied material properties by interchanging a paper and woollen extra warp.
