Christina Price is a recent Fashion graduate with a year in industry including placements at Preen by Thornton Bregazzi and Bottle Blonde Studio. She specialises in womenswear design and sustainable design.
Christina’s collection ‘Doomed Youth’ is a reflection of the exasperation felt by many young people at the lack of response to the climate crisis; and an investigation into the wider sociological and political elements of our society that have allowed the climate crisis to cumulate.
This sense of urgency is portrayed through an anti-fashion aesthetic and gloomy colour scheme and shows a contrast between draped, asymmetrical silhouettes and harsh utility inspired shapes.
Her collection uses sustainable design and production methods including zero waste pieces which use elastic to create shape instead of cutting the fabric, upcycling and patchworking denim and using recycled plastic fabric which is printed on with her own pollution inspired print.
Despite the coronavirus pandemic forcing Christina Price to work from home, she was able to complete four outfits of her final collection and design a further two, however due to restrictions a professional photoshoot of all the finished work hasn’t been able to take place as of yet.
