Gisele He is a recently MA Fashion Menswear student in Royal College of Art.

Gisele finished her BA fashion study at Japan Bunka college in 2018, she had always been focused on how to pay attention to observe male identity and masculinity in different cultural backgrounds. Her leather collection constantly explores ways to incorporate a sustainable way to reuse skins and leather waste.

The project is about protective cowboy gear and the culture of the Wild West. Because there is a high risk of injury, cowboys wear chaps to protect the lower part of their legs while riding. Gisele wanted to use repurposed leathers, attaching them in several different ways and created a double layer of a softer material between the bottom and the body to reduce friction. At the same time, she finds that leather on skin expresses the peak of traditional masculinity.
