Jiaru Zhang graduated in 2019 from the University of Sheffield Hallam. She was studying BA Fashion Design course.

The elderly in China believe that the young people born in the 1990s are ‘hedonistic’, who will only learn what they are interested in, pursue a happy life, rebel against their parents, resist the heavy, and have a strong personality and desire for self-expression and action. In fact, they are insightful, thoughtful, logical and articulate. Through her collection she wants to express even we are in different cultural backgrounds, don't deny yourself because of others changes or attitudes. Your own personality is the most unique fashion. The society is always full of all kinds of trends, the most correct thing is to choose the right one for yourself.

After learning and mastering Adobe Illustrator, Jiaru designed and printed her own grid shirt pattern with the digital machine. Instead of using the real necklace, she used laser-cutting and hand-drawn to make the fake pearls necklace. As a designer she enjoys being in a different cultural context to show her creativity, imagination, transformation and understanding. You will see different possibilities through different combinations and adjustments. For Jiaru, this process is often the most interesting and fascinating part.

Jiaru Zhang and her collection was invited to be featured within a fashion video and shoot at the Foreign Commonwealth Office's iconic Locarno Suite, which will be promoted the British fashion in more than 140 countries through the UK government's international network and will be used at major fashion events and trade conferences in 2020.
