Lexi Young is a Womenswear and Menswear designer in the 3rd Year of her BA Fashion course at Heriot-Watt University. Lexi was brought up on the Isle of Coll in the Inner Scottish Hebrides with a population of 160. The sea and natural world has always been a constant in Lexi’s life and so she is often inspired by her surroundings. Due to the limited resources growing up, Lexi is a very creative person, hence her pursuit of fashion, and spends her free time painting, sewing, and running her own digital art business on Instagram.

Lexi’s collection ‘Structured Motion’ is inspired by curvature and layering in modern architecture. She is constantly finding inspiration from her surroundings and decided to focus on the futuristic and abstract nature of architecture. The collection is solely white and concrete colours with no embellishments in order to highlight the ripples and organic nature of the fabrics. Lexi believes sustainability is the most important factor for the future of fashion, making her collection primarily in bamboo. The collection has a Ready-To-Wear, futuristic concept, full of abstract staple pieces and asymmetry. All of the garments are unisex, appealing to a contemporary crowd who appreciate androgyny, minimalism and comfort.
