Maisie Dunton is a London based Womenswear designer recently graduated from Kingston School of Art with a passion for storytelling along with seeing and using fashion a form of escapism where she can evoke positivity and warmth through the stories she decides to bring to life, instead of focussing on the negative realities of modern life.

Maisie's collection was heavily influenced by human relationships and ties. What started as a project inspired by the grief and loss of her mother's sister, evolved into playful experimentation of how the clothes you wear could re-create that sense of familiarity, comfort and security that you miss in childhood comforts like duvets, teddy bears and blankets.

Her research comes from looking back at childhood photographs, both her own and her mother's, to tell the story of one sister living without the other. Through fabrication, silhouette and exaggerated ties, Maisie conjures a narrative both playful, speaking back to that warm feeling of being safe and cuddled and also the idea that by wearing something so big that it could fit two bodies inside, you are holding a loved one near no matter how far away they are.
