Based in London, Molly is an artistic designer with a love for illustrative visuals and embellished textiles. Her graduate collection, which explores androgyny and rebellion during the punk rock and grunge wave of the ’80s and ’90s, was originally inspired by the music she grew up with and the general ethos that the younger generation adopted.
Combining her love for embroidery and illustrative handwork on garments with typically timeless feminine shapes, Molly incorporated them into a Menswear Collection that challenges gender stereotypes and celebrates masculinity by enhancing the male silhouette with typically ‘pretty’ features. Juxtaposing ugly masks with feminine fabrics, ruffles and heavily decorated features, so that her muse is a visual interpretation of this concept and follows the trends of this era and the celebration of the creativity and individuality within the music scene.
During her time at Middlesex University, Molly developed her personal aesthetic through exploring and designing womenswear. Her graduate collection was originally intended to be womenswear, but as her design process grew it lead her to reinterpret her collection as menswear, allowing her to combine her illustrative aesthetic with the art of androgyny and challenge unisex fashion.
