Natsuki Hanyu is a textile creator based in Japan and London. With a passion for making spiritual and monstrous textiles, she calls herself ‘textile monster’.
She is currently studying Textiles Mixed Media at Royal College of Art. Her fundamental study is about a relationship between textiles and body’s movements.
Her spiritual textile sculptures are fused with a body, and these tactile textiles moving on a body has a potential to enhance a beauty of body and its movements. She believes textile can be more than textile when it is put onto our bodies. ‘Once it is places on a body, it takes on its own life’.
