Phoebe St Leger is a 22 year old women’s knitwear designer based in Nottingham and Winchester. Phoebe is in her final year at Nottingham Trent University pursuing a BA in Fashion Knitwear Design and Knitted Textiles.

During her time designing women’s knitwear in Hong Kong, Phoebe had several clients all with varying customer profiles and aesthetic aims. This sparked Phoebe’s interest in exploring how identity informs fashion.

This in turn influenced her dissertation topic How Will Technology Affect the Portrayal of Women, exploring the nuances of manufactured identity and gender politics in the virtual world. Her knitwear designs have since become a comment on the lack of freedom of fluid identity in the real world as opposed to that of the virtual.
