Yvonne Southern is a Australian Creative Director and Stylist with a passion for design and art. Movies, editorial fashion and print magazines are just a few of her inspirations. She has had a lifelong love for painting and for the work of Basquiat and Warhol. Over the years this love of art has influenced her Creative Direction and inspired her design approach to interior, fashion and food styling, graphics and photography.

Her overall design aesthetic has been shaped by 80’s meets 60’s, from Freddie Mercury to Brigitte Bardot.

This editorial appears in ‘ADAPT’ Magazine, a hypothetical publication created entirely by Yvonne. Its signature concept is is titled ‘Runway to Room’, where she demonstrates how to translate fashion trends from current runway shows into home decor and styling choices. This particular editorial is about modernising the 60’s, and the ‘Miu Miu Spring 2021 Ready-to-Wear’ collection was a big inspiration for the fashion styling. Yvonne wanted to bring elements from that iconic time period, such as colour blocking and the bold use of shape, and give them a modern twist. Hence the title ‘Back to the Future’.
